Spring Force Brakes Servo Slim Line, 0.6Nm to 4.5Nm

Product features

SERVO SLIM LINE
Flat brake with large inner diameter
Fail-safe spring-applied brake with slim design

About the Servo Slim Line
The new Servo Slim Line solution is based on the spring compression principle and is suitable for industrial robots with high braking energies and long required service life

The new flat spring-loaded brake “Servo Slim Line” from Kendrion is ideally suited for robotics requirements and designed for solutions up to approximately 20 kg payload. The “slim” single disc brakes are flatter and lighter than the market standard in terms of their power density and are well suited for hollow shaft drives due to their large inner diameter. This makes them ideal for use in lightweight robots where the drives are installed internally.

The optimal solution for robotics
Safety is also a concern in every robot application. After all, in the event of a control or power failure, neither people nor investments should be endangered by irregular movements.
Kendrion has supplied brakes for industrial robots with payloads greater than 20 kg for decades. To also serve the rapidly growing market for smaller robots, the brake specialist has invested heavily in the research and development of suitable brakes. With long-standing know-how and new insights from the market, optimally matched solutions for robotics have been developed.

Manufacturing technology
The foundation for this solution is a patented manufacturing technology: For conventional spring-loaded brakes, the air gap, i.e., the distance between the friction disc and the armature plate, must always consider manufacturing tolerances. The maximum new air gap has to be kept as small as possible. Conventional manufacturing technologies achieve new air gap tolerances between one and two tenths of a millimeter.
With Kendrion’s proven solution, new air gap tolerances in the range of four hundredths are standard. The saved potential is used, for example, to increase the holding torque or to extend service life, thereby increasing the brake’s power density.

Competence from the laboratory
For validation and verification of the values, the user can rely on the competent
laboratory team of the brake specialist. Kendrion has built up a high
competence in testing and qualifying its products over years. The laboratory is equipped with test fixtures for the measurement range from 0.1 Nm up to 10,000 Nm. The
test setups map the application conditions 1:1 and can thus reproduce the real
conditions. All measurement data are recorded under various operating conditions
such as temperature, friction work, speed, and direction of rotation and are used for the technical
data. These possibilities enable the user to receive well-founded technical information.
